Why co-op isn’t the same as crossplay
Co-op means friends can play together. Crossplay means they can do it on different platforms, and cross-save only moves a save file between platforms you own. We counted only crossplay confirmed by a developer or an official store page. If your group shares one platform, co-op RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3 opens up far more options.
Gloomhaven: the one that reaches PS4 and Xbox One friends
This is the pick most crossplay lists miss, and the one we’d hand to most mixed groups.

Gloomhaven
Platforms: PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S · Length: 95-scenario campaign plus 160-plus Guildmaster missions (publisher figures) · Mode: online co-op, 1–4, crossplay.
It shares BG3’s best co-op moment: four people planning one turn out loud.
Each round, every player commits two ability cards before anyone acts. The table negotiates initiative and positioning the way a BG3 party argues over who takes the risky jump. It’s also the only pick here that reaches PS4 and Xbox One owners, whom BG3’s crossplay can’t include.
Who it’s not for: groups who played BG3 for its companions and dialogue. This is scenario-by-scenario tactics with a thin story.
Setting up a mixed lobby
Turn on crossplay in the game’s options, then the host shares an invite code. Asmodee’s crossplay help page lists the supported platforms.
⚠️ Heads Up: The 2023 console launch promised crossplay on Switch too. The publisher’s current help-centre list doesn’t include Switch, so treat it as unconfirmed.
Solasta: actual 5e rules for PC, Mac and Xbox groups
Solasta is the closest rules match to BG3 on this list.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister
Platforms: PC (Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store), Mac (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 · Length: base campaign of 40-plus hours (publisher figure) · Mode: online co-op, 1–4; crossplay across PC, Mac and Xbox.
It uses the same D&D 5th edition ruleset family that BG3 adapts.
Initiative rolls, spell slots and attacks of opportunity work the way a BG3 player expects. Only the host needs the DLC for everyone to use it, which makes a four-copy purchase cheaper.
Who it’s not for: groups who came for BG3’s written companions. Solasta’s party is characters you create yourselves, and the story is plainer.
The PlayStation question
The PS5 version supports up to four online players with PS Plus. Neither its store listing nor Tactical Adventures’ crossplay FAQ confirms PS5 crossplay. Until the developer says so, assume a PS5 player can only join other PS5 players.
Rogue Trader: for PC groups split across Steam, GOG and Epic
Rogue Trader solves a narrower problem: PC friends who bought on different stores.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

It keeps BG3’s turn-based party combat and companion-driven story.
Co-op seats up to six players, with the crew divided among them. That fits a PC group bigger than BG3’s four-player limit.
Who it’s not for: any group with a console player, and anyone who wants BG3’s lighter tone.
Why Xbox players can’t join
In a May 2024 reply, Owlcat’s developer said console-to-PC crossplay was unlikely. Solasta’s Xbox listing shows cross-platform play, but Rogue Trader’s doesn’t. It is listed with Game Pass on Xbox; see Game Pass games like BG3.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: D&D jokes, full PC and console crossplay
This is the real-time option, and it’s honest about being one.

It shares BG3’s tabletop framing: the campaign is a fantasy game run by an unpredictable game master.
Each player builds their own multiclass hero, and the humour plays like a friend running a chaotic homebrew session. A paid season pass with an extra class is sold separately.
Who it’s not for: anyone who loved BG3’s turn-based tactics. This is a first-person looter-shooter.

Why Divinity: Original Sin 2 isn’t here
It’s the most common BG3 co-op recommendation, and for single-platform groups it earns that. But Larian’s own support FAQ confirms crossplay only between PC/Mac and iPad, and its Steam-to-Switch cross-save moves a file, not a friend.
